Coaching is available anytime at Ashburton Bowls Club, you just need to make an appointment with one of the Club Coaches.

Take advantage of this service, and iron out any common or unique faults you have. This can be a great assistance, to a bowler (novice or experienced) who is wanting to improve their consistency.

Coaching at Ashburton!

On a Thursday Afternoon, from 5:30pm on, Skills sessions are set up, to assist players in developing their experience in a whole range of shots.

These Skills Sessions have been well received, and have become a regular part of the Training at Ashburton.

David Mayson and other coaches put the Skills sets together, and invite players to attempt to maximise their scores against the tests.


A number of previous sessions from past years have also been filmed, and have been edited into a final form on DVD.  These DVDs are available at the Club , for members to view.
Currently, the Club has a number of DVDs and videos, that cover various aspects and topics of lawn bowls, including:

-          The Delivery Style;

-          The Grooved Delivery, Master class & In the Groove

-          Basic Bowls technique
How to be a Skip;

-          Advanced Bowling.
Some matches from old “Jack High” are also available for viewing from the Club.  Our Coaching Panel are only too happy to make a time to see a bowler, or to discuss an aspect of the game.
